Firefly Music Festival This Summer With Deadmau5, Major Lazer, and Disclosure

Firefly Music Festival returns to the Woodlands in Dover, DE for its fifth year with four days bursting at the seams with great music. Headliners for the show include Deadmau5, Florence + the Machine, Mumford & Sons, and Kings of Leon, who return to the Woodlands for a second year after their headlining set was cancelled last year due to a massive storm that wreaked havoc on the festival. I'm excited to see the headliners (duh.) — in addition to the other 100+ acts scheduled for the weekend — and will definitely be checking out the following 5 sets (cue blogger-using-a-list-induced eye roll):

  1. Disclosure — Popular option for many? Absolutely, and for a good reason. Brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence surprised us all this week when they premiered "BOSS" at Wild Life over the weekend, then released a three-track EP entitled Moog for Love on Wednesday. Moog for Love, featuring an amazing Al Green sample on "Feel Like I Do", is full of soulful vibes that harken back to the duo's first album, Settle. It'll be interesting to see how they mix this new material with their foray into pop, aka, Caracal.
  2. Major Lazer — Duh. But actually, Major Lazer consistently put on an amazing show full of Major Lazer hits, both new and old. We'll be listening out for any new material as Diplo recently told Billboard that there is a new Major Lazer/Justin Bieber/MØ track coming any day now called "Cold Water," off of Major Lazer's fourth LP set for release in January 2017. Not to mention that they're the last set of the entire festival, so here's to hoping there's some fireworks.
  3. AlunaGeorge — The English electro duo kick off the festival Thursday night with a set that is sure to impress. AlunaGeorge has been busy this year touring and releasing tracks — including "My Blood" with ZHU and a feature on Flume's recently released LP, Skin — so it'll be great to hear how their new (frankly amazing) releases work live. Here's to hoping they slip in some new material and finally give us a hint as to whether or not we can expect a new album soon.
  4. RÜFÜS DU SOL — Stop what you're doing and listen to the What So Not remix of RÜFUS DU SOL's "Innerbloom," then come back to me. Good? Good. RÜFÜS DU SOL is coming hot off of the release of their album, Bloom, earlier this year — an awe-inspiring piece that I could not turn off for a solid week. Excited to see what the Australian trio's live set is like. Imaging a lot of dramatic lighting.
  5. St. Lucia DJ Set — St. Lucia dropped their second album, Matter, earlier this year, which means that we haven't heard much from frontman Jean-Philip Grobler in terms of his DJ and production work since he's been touring with his band non-stop since the album came out in late January. I featured his remix of Joywave's "Something New" almost a year ago, and stand by the statement that it is one of the best remixes of a song I've ever heard. Please send all angry comments to notsorry@dailybeat.com. Regardless, really looking forward to hearing the DJ set from St. Lucia ahead of their late, late show Saturday night (also sure to be amazing).

If you're at Firefly, make sure to comment and let me know what sets you're looking forward to. If you're not going to Firefly and live in the area, 4-day and single-day passes are still available on the Firefly website.

Follow along all weekend via the Daily Beat Media Instagram account here — also going to throw my IG account out there in case you're particularly interested in photos of nachos and me crying during Florence Welch's stripped down version of "Sweet Nothing" come Saturday night.
