My favorite interview, to date, was with this amazingly humble individual. He’s more than just an electronic music producer and DJ. He’s involved with a multi-faceted company called Elm and Oak, which combines music, design, art, and an academy for aspiring musicians. Alex Botwin, AKA Paper Diamond is a man of many talents and this Friday he’s bringing it all to Webster Hall New York!
As apart of the Cold Crush Tour, LOUDPVCK, and Gent & Jawns will accompany Alex on Friday ensuring a high-energy night full of dirty beats and bass. Kenny Beats and Ryan Marks make up the trap-duo LOUDPVCK and ever since they conspired in 2009, they’ve been pumping out some of the filthiest tracks out there including remixes of Carnage and Kill The Noise, with some playtime on BBC Radio One.
Although starting out with successful solo careers, Billy the Gent and Long Jawns banded together in 2009 to form Gent & Jawns and quickly started getting noticed. Their earlier sound can be described at Moombahton, having worked with the creator of the sub-genre, Nadastrom, but in 2012, they found themselves working and twerking with Diplo on his Express Yourself EP and ultimately produced the number one trap remix of the title track.
Boulder, Colorado has not been the same since Alex stepped in and revamped the entire idea of an electronic music scene. Elm and Oak is just one example of his impact and dedication to music, making sure others have a chance to express themselves musically, like he has. He has produced tracks on Pretty Lights Music, Mad Decent, and now Elm and Oak Records. His raw energy and spacey sounds will mesmerize your brain into the future and leave you urging for more.
This Friday’s Girls and Boys show is not one to be missed so snag your tickets now, (only $20, wow!) and get pumped with Paper Diamonds mix for Diplo & Friends on BBC Radio 1 that premiered yesterday and is also available for FREE download! Score!
