UK-based producer Luke Bond recently released his latest track “Sidewinder” for free download on Soundcloud and it’s a fantastic escape from the monotonous commercial music that is on every festival’s main stage these days. Underground sounds have made a steady rise over the past year, including those that center around Deep House. You can’t even read an EDM blog today without some hint of “banger apathy.” Another area that is making a huge comeback, though, is Progressive House, and this track is evidence that there are still people out there who believe that there should be more than just a huge drop in a song.
Right off the bat when listening to “Sidewinder” I am reminded of another rising star in the Progressive world, Michael Brun. The song quickly creates anticipation and maintains a steady groove before the first breakdown, where the main melody is first introduced. The lightly distorted plucks in the breakdown reminded me of Lucky Date’s remix of “Apollo” and that association left me wanting a huge female vocal performance to complement the song’s enticing harmony. A good mash up has the potential to light this track on fire.
Luke Bond was recently nominated for an IDMA at the 2015 Winder Music Conference for his track “On Fire” with Gareth Emery’s sister Roxanne Emery. He’s got some big things coming soon including a new original track on Garuda, a fresh Cosmic Gate remix, and a collaboration with Omnia. Follow this guy on Facebook or Soundcloud to stay up to date.
