11 Local DJs You Should Get To Know @ Reaction NYE

December 9, 2015 -

Ashlyn Fulton

It's not just about the headliners at this year's Reaction NYE party. Deadmau5 and Skrillex - we already know a ton about them. So what about all that local Chicago talent that are not only going to be next on your radar, but going to be filling your evening with crazy vibes leading up to the countdown?

And what would The Arcade Stage be without FREE operating old school arcade games?! Including Ms. Pacman, Centipede, Silver Strike Bowling, air hockey and more, play your heart out while jamming out to some of these artists that you should get to know at Reaction NYE:

1. Porn and Chicken

What started out as a small Monday night food and drink special at a bar called Risqué Cafe', has turned into a group of crazy ass f*ckers churning out the filthiest beats and throwing the most lewd & crude bangers. I mean, with a name like Porn and Chicken, would you expect anything less?

2. Mielo

This 20 year-old DJ/Producer has been behind the decks for just 2 years and is already quickly on the rise in the Chicago area, having opened for such artists as Griz, AC Slater, and Black Tiger Sex Machine. His first release, Surreal, has a very Porter Robinson feel to it, so it comes as no surprise that he is one of Mielo's biggest influences. You won't see this local DJ on the Arcade stage at Reaction NYE - he's got much bigger plans.

3. Glass Lux

Glass Lux is a live electronica trio really into old-school sound, using vintage style instruments. Have been together since 2010, they have definitely collected a fan base. The band’s music is extremely danceable and as drummer Fonz Mayen puts it "something big is in store for them."

4. Greg Corner

Greg Corner is DJ, bass player, event producer, music programmer and artist consultant best known for his ability to throw successful events and spin eclectic music that people of all backgrounds love.

5. Servante

Servante is a newly formed DJ duo made up of Hexes and Steve Gerard. Still much to be discovered about these two but we do know their tech house vibes will keep you at the Arcade Stage.

6. Show You Suck

ShowYouSuck has raised the bar for live hip-hop performances and is considered a trailblazer for a new era, alternative hip-hop. ShowYouSuck continues to promote P.M.A (Positive Mental Attitude) while connecting with his fans through shared obsessions such as fun, food and relationships. He is establishing himself as one of the most relevantly liked emcees out of Chicago, giving his fans everything he didn't have as a kid; a live, metal enthused, rap performance. He has done this while making appearances on MTV Suckerfree, joining Yelawolf’s national “Slumerican” Tour and releasing three mix tape One Man Pizza Party  series, as well as debuting his latest EP, Dude Bro  on iTunes & Spotify.

7. Celine Neon

Celine Neon unleashes club-ready grime pop for the huntress. Dancy, industrial, electro pop; an erotic mix of Charli XCX, Tove Lo, and NIN.

8. Free Pizzv

Chicago native producer/DJ and hip-hop enthusiast FREE PiZZV pushes the boundaries of the standard "one genre fits all" DJ set. "I didn't realize how powerful it was to give away free pizza durring my performances until I saw the expression on people's faces as I handed them a slice.  The enthusiasm was comparable to a child opening presents on Christmas morning.  Not only did it instill a blissful energy into the crowd, but it also made me feel good that I could give them something more to remember me by. It was pure magic."

9. My Gold Mask

My Gold Mask started as an experimental home recording project between longstanding collaborators Gretta Rochelle and Jack Armondo. Since then the bands music has been featured in numerous blogs, fashion shows and on tv. But My Gold Mask's true passion and focus has always been exploring new musical territory and growing as artists. Not concerned with classifications, My Gold Mask's songs bring to mind their own unique blend of cross boundary influences while a unifying "dark pop" undercurrent threads together their ever growing catalog.

10. The Pool House

In the summer of 2012, a group of optimistic friends started a house music party dubbed, “The Pool House.” Since it’s inception, The Pool House collective has launched their own record label, become a staple in the local underground scene - known for hosting the best of local & international talent, and represent a bright future for Chicago’s next generation of producers and DJs.

11. DJ Intel

DJ Intel, born Jason Deuchler, is a man that knows his way around the ones and twos. Coming up near Chicago in the early 90s, Intel grew up in the early days of Hip Hop with a fascination for turntablism. He quickly hit the decks with a set of turntables and a mixer he “borrowed” from his brother, and started off on the path that Chicago DJ legends like PNS and Tone B Nimble paved. Between the house parties and the B-boy battles, Intel quickly made a name for himself across the Midwest.
